[UPDATE: I send an updated mail with the doamin julianassangemustdie.com added and clarified some aspects. New version reproduced here, old version archived in this same post.

I have just sent this mail to abuse@godaddy.com and urge you to do the same:

Dear Godaddy,

as instructed by your twitter account, I hereby request to check if the domain names registered by godaddy on behalf of your customers

* killassange.com
* killjulianassange.com
* julianassangemustdie.com

are in violation of your terms of use.

In my personal opinion they are in violation of your terms of use as stipulated at

http://www.godaddy.com/Agreements/ShowDoc.aspx?pageid=TOU&ci=20801&app_hdr=0

more specifically 4 iv which I partly quote verbatim here:

* Promotes, encourages or engages in hate speech, hate crime, terrorism, violence against people, animals, or property, or intolerance of or against any protected class;

Therefore I kindly request to take the appropriate action and inform the owner of these domains about your findings.

I also kindly request to be informed of the outcome in the next 14 days.

I will continue to check if these domain names are active and which content is hosted.

I have published this email on my blog at

http://jan.wildeboer.net/2011/01/wrt-killjulianassange-com-killassange-com-and-godaddy/

I would like to publish your response at the same place, as my readers and twitter/identi.ca followers have indicated their interest in the resolution of this issue.

Should you not want to see your reply published, please explicitly state that in your reply.

Kind regards,

Jan Wildeboer

    As we learned during the anti-war movement since 2001, Godaddy founder Bob Parsons is a frothing at the mouth advocate of a National Security state, and no friend of free speech or intelligent discourse. He was two thumbs up to torturing folks and monitoring American’s private data back then, and I assume he hasn’t changed. He’s likely proud and excited to be hosting a website about killing a whistleblower. It certainly suits his strategy of ginning up publicity by being an unashamed right wing moron. Just read his personal blog. Your plea will go unanswered.

      They officially told me to use the abuse@godaddy.com email address for complaints. Seems to be the only official way. So IMHO calling them will not help. BTW – so far no reaction at all from their side. No ticket number, no “thank you, we got your mail” autoreply.

    Just read about these domains in Greg Mitchell’s blog and all I can say is that is shameful. If politicians can’t think what to do with themselves, why don’t they clean something, for instance? Or join some charity organizations? Or maybe read something? I suggest Orwell’s 1984, reading is much more useful than inciting murder, believe me.

    please answer publicly ASAP.

    this is referring to:

    * killassange.com
    * killjulianassange.com
    * julianassangemustdie.com

    awaiting your kind reply until tomorrow 11 am.

      Thank you for your inquiry. Although your question is not entirely clear, we can offer the following:

      No, we do not support any call for violence of any kind. Of that you can be sure.

      For background, you should know that Go Daddy registers a domain name every .8 seconds. Any domain name can be registered; the process is completely automated, there is no human intervention.

      Importantly, unless and until there is content associated with a registered domain name, such as killjulianassange.com, there is no way for us to know what the domain name will be used for. Because there is no content associated with this particular domain name at the present time, and we cannot predict whether it will be used to violate any rule of law, and we therefore do not plan to take action at this time.

        hello Godaddy.

        re: your answer to our request for a public statement. thank you for giving it, but our reply to it is still as visible here – http://wp.me/psdI6-XL – , please be so kind to pick it up there.

        we’d understand any possible position claiming that it could as well be used for legal publications such as e.g. a sharp political satire, please be aware that under the given circumstances there are few reasons to either assume such a use or use such a hardly possible promille possibility for an explanation.

    hello team.

    we found no anwer from you re. our inquiry for immediate reply (see below) in our mailbox. we interpret this as your open wish to be treated in the media as a company willing to contribute to a crime, “perhaps the single most serious criminal offense” (West’s encylopedia of American law).

    incitement to murder is taking part in a murder, thus a crime that may “be sentenced to many years in prison, a prison sentence with no possibility of parole, or death”.

    you can correct this with a prompt reply asap while our writers are writing their publications. if you hurry up, a correction sentence might land in a text. if you keep silent, this is your own choice then and please understand the public will have to know about the casse and to decide how to deal with it.

    best regards

    killjulianassange.com seems to be down now.

    killassange.com leads to http://99.14.214.54/ka/

    This IP address is static-54.ds1.hpcisp.com, owned by HPC Internet Services, an ISP in Indiana. I don’t see an email address for abuse complaints on their website, but support@hpcisp.com or (812) 275-2456 might work.

    if you’re talking about this page here: hpcisp.com, then they do have contact boxes for abuse complains:

    “info@hpcisp.com
    support@hpcisp.com
    admin@hpcisp.com

    We also have several special-purpose accounts to direct various questions and comments such as abuse@, spam@, techsupport@, and so on. (The full list of addresses will not be printed on the web due to spam concerns.) ”

    http://www.hpcisp.com/contactus/index.html – seen on han13th noon european time (gmt or gmt+1 is no other pips business, but anyway – they are online, how long for now, wen can’t confirm)

    just a short note inbetween –

    a) HPC reply just landed in box (more about this soon, waiting for action).

    b) waiting for godaddy PR office reply.

    c) goddaddy’s earlier reply forwarded to us claims: a) killassange.com not hosted by them, b) killjulianassange.com and julianassangemustdie.com are confirmed as hosted by godaddy. they claim they cannot undertake much action as long as there is no or not enough content on the page but propose legal action as a court proceeding re. wording of the addresses itself.

    so let us reread this once again. godaddy has a problem with reading, is it this? a sentence is not a sentence anymore, recognizable as a criminal action and therefore satisfactory to check compliance with their T&C? well if a page hoster cannot recognize a crime as a crime anymore, what then to think about the company. sure legal action, but there might be in this case enough reason to go the court way re both: the registering person as well as the person who cannot read a sentence anymore although obviously answering emails in the same language.

    mini-information for the people involved. HPC was informed by their customer that the server was compromised or the page was set up by a former employee.

    comment from us to this: we herewith wish the hew employee a good start in the office. (hopefully they have a good coffee machine there?)

    Hey Jan,

    if anyone is looking out for that stuff, it ought to be you. Thanks for making the internet a little more self conscious and help people and companies to think about who they are doing business with.

    If it would only be so obvious with Software Patents…

    Keep it up, Merry X-Mas and a Happy New Year
